Duckietown is an educational and research platform that was born from a class at the Tecnológico de Massachusetts institute, MIT, in 2016 about autonomous vehicles, currently this class is being used for the reformulation of how the topics are being taught in robotics and autonomy in objects. This platform has the purpose that the students have a learning experience where they build and program their "Duckiebots" with improvements over previous versions where new features are included so that they manage more naturally and autonomously through different cities of "Duciketown".
Also, it is desired that the "Duckietown" platform could be easily accessible and that all those who want to obtain a high level scientific education by themselves can do so, since it has been thought that this is a cheaper acquisition possible with respect to hardware.
Now, this foundation is currently fueled by a group of dedicated and enthusiastic developers and instructors that are committed to the promotion of robotics and education in artificial intelligence.
How was it possible the acquisition and subscription to this initiative?
Thanks to Professor Víctor Romero Cano who was the one who contacted the research group of the "Ducktown" platform and told them about what the robotics research group was doing and what the objectives were when they acquired this project. He was able to acquire the components and support the project.
