Reasons to belong to the robotics research group

The people and their abilities

In the research group you will be surrounded by dynamic, open, bright and collaborative people who have in mind the human, social and learning growth in community, through their own talents and enthusiasm.

Campus

The Universidad Autonoma de Occidente has laboratories with adequate equipment, software tools for simulations or modeling that are required, digital bibliographic resources, among others, in order to supply the needs that arise.

Research areas

The research group has two fundamental interests, which are agriculture and mobility. In the mobility part to date, we are working with autonomous cars, while in the field of agriculture we work on crop monitoring and precision agriculture through the concept of robotic perception. So, if you have the interest to apply, investigate, know or obtain more information about a topic mentioned in advance, raise a problem or technology that addresses issues related to robotics are welcome to the group.

ANow, the robotics research group together with Professor Víctor Romero Cano want to invite the entire student community of the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente to take part in the robotics seedbed with the aim of publishing serious documents such as research articles, videos and images where the findings obtained in the projects are evidenced and can be uploaded to databases specialized in development and research.

Currently the robotics research group is made up of 25 active members, from undergraduate students, professors to graduates of the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente, these characters belong to the careers of mechatronics engineering, electronic engineering, multimedia engineering and environmental administration. However, we want to create and expand the multidisciplinary network to venture into different fields of knowledge and take into consideration the opinion and contributions that can be made from another point of view, for this reason it is desired that anyone interested in applying or proposing themes for the group will be a potential member for this.

What do you acquire by being part of the research group?

"A research group offers students the opportunity to put in context the knowledge acquired during their career in applications of interest to them. In addition, the work is done as a team of students and teachers passionate about innovating and solving problems in their environment. In the Robotic Research Group, we tackle problems related to agriculture and urban mobility, we build and use robots to transform the world while we have fun" said Romero Cano.
