In 2016 at the university, a course was started with the purpose of investigating and teaching everything related to the technologies of autonomous driving vehicles. However, when the mentioned idea was raised, the question was: How to propose and develop a course on autonomous vehicles using few resources? That's where the idea called "Duckie Town" came about, which consists in designing a city at scale ( specifically automobile transport roads) in which cars configured to travel in that space move in the most natural way, and responsible in the journey. For this purpose, it is sought that the cars move in a network of lanes delimited by simple lines, where the cars by themselves identify the traffic signs that are along the road and from this take the correct actions to the recognize a zebra, traffic lights, other cars, prevention, restrictive and information notices, among others. However, taking into account the need to investigate the robotics and artificial intelligence of what brings the "Duckie Town" opened a program of donations and search for strategic partners to start the project, said Professor Víctor Romero Cano, which is currently in charge of the Research Group in Robotics, communicated with the developers of the platform where he told them about the idea he wanted to address and after this obtained the endorsement of the developers who provided the platform to start working in her.
